Kidney Gala Event
On Friday, March 8, 2019 The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC &Yukon Branch is hosting the 7th annual Kidney Gala will be at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver.
Hosting the 2019 Kidney Gala is Vancouver’s “Man About Town”, Fred Lee, and Sophie Lui, Global TV News Anchor. Our honoured guests and keynote speakers are Toby and Bernadine Boulet, parents of Logan Boulet. Sadly, and tragically, Logan was a victim of the Humboldt Broncos crash last April. Just weeks prior to this tragedy, Logan registered his wishes to be an organ donor. As a result, he not only gave life to six others needing an organ transplant, he also inspired a nation with OVER 100,000 Canadians registering their organ donation wishes after his story went viral on the internet, resulting in the #LoganBouletEffect.
Another speaker in the line up is Coach Stephen from the Vancouver Minor Hockey Association PeeWee A2 Spirit team. His team made a video which included a plea to find a kidney donor for their coach, Stephen. Their video went viral and Coach Stephen’s story has been shared on a number of media outlets and he was recently featured on Hometown Hockey with Ron MacLean and Tara Slone. Coach Stephen has been invited to attend and speak – pending any developments on a transplant for him. He recently had to start dialysis as they haven’t secured a match for him yet and his kidney function has decreased.
After the Gala, guests are invited to “slide” on over to the official Kidney Gala After Party, presented by Hollywood North Radio and hosted by William ‘BIG SLEEPS’ Stewart (radio host, actor and kidney transplant recipient). PLUS… there will be a special guest appearance and performance by Canadian Hip Hop Pioneer, Maestro Fresh Wes of “Let Your Backbone Slide”!
Funds raised will support The Kidney Foundation of Canada’s Patient Services & Public Education programs, Saving Lives through Organ Donation campaign and world-class research. For tickets and more information, visit www.kidneygala.com
