Thank You Canada

It’s been one week since Green Shirt Day and next week is National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week. I wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge and give thanks to all our fantastic supporters that helped make Green Shirt Day possible this year.

Of course, due to what’s happening in the world right now, it was a very different day than what was originally planned. Having to bring everything virtual and relying on social media to help us spread the word and to celebrate and honour Logan Boulet and the Humboldt Broncos made this year seem very surreal. But we made it work, even in these chaotic and uncertain times. So, thank you everyone.

Thank you Vista Print Corporate Solutions for your support and for the Green Shirt Day store as well as the fantastic new gear. The Green Shirt Day jerseys looked fantastic and were a nice touch. Thank you Global News for your advertising expertise, editorials and continued support to promote the awareness of organ donor registration across this country. Thank you to Canadian Blood Services and the Kidney Foundation of Canada and all the organ donation organizations who promoted Green Shirt Day through your networks, created education material and shared through your channels. Thank you to the CTA members for supporting the day with your enthusiastic wearing Green and sharing your pictures on our Facebook pages. Thank you to all the Canadians and the world who are touched by organ donation, who have supported Green Shirt Day by registering as donors, and who have talked to your families about your wishes. This is why this day is so important – for everyone of you who talks to 1 person, they will talk to 4 more, and ultimately more lives will be saved.

We hope that Green Shirt Day, can come back out into our communities again next year. That said, we really appreciate all your support in making it as visible as possible this year and ultimately a great success. Let’s keep up the momentum next week and continue to wear green throughout the rest of April. Let’s encourage organ donor registration and inspire families to talk about their wishes. There are over 4000 Canadians waiting for a life saving organ transplant today. You can do your part to help save a life. Thank you.
