The Logan Boulet Effect Lives On in Green Shirt Day 2025

Lethbridge, AB – March 11, 2025 – The powerful legacy of Logan Boulet continues to inspire Canadians coast to coast as Green Shirt Day 2025 approaches. On March 11, at Lethbridge City Hall, Logan’s family unveil the official 2025 Green Shirt Day logo, featuring a silhouette of Logan, as they encourage communities nationwide to host their own events promoting organ and tissue donation awareness.

This special event also served as an opportunity for the Boulet family—Toby, Bernadine, and Mariko—to invite Lethbridge residents to the Green Shirt Day Free Family Skate on April 7 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Logan Boulet Arena. A heartfelt celebration of Logan’s gift, this event reminds us all of the importance of organ donation registration. Helmets are required for all skaters for insurance purposes.

Honouring Logan’s Legacy

Green Shirt Day, observed annually on April 7, commemorates the victims and families affected by the 2018 Humboldt Broncos bus crash. Among those lost was 21-year-old defenceman Logan Boulet, whose selfless decision to register as an organ donor saved six lives. His choice, and the powerful conversations it sparked, led to nearly 150,000 Canadians registering as organ donors in the weeks that followed—a phenomenon known as the Logan Boulet Effect.

A Special Honour: King Charles III’s Coronation Medal

At the March 11 event, His Worship Mayor Blaine Hyggen presented Toby and Bernadine Boulet with King Charles III’s Coronation Medals. This prestigious honour, awarded through nominations by The Kidney Foundation of Canada, recognizes the Boulets’ tireless efforts in raising awareness for organ and tissue donation across Canada. Their advocacy has helped countless families have life-changing conversations about the gift of life.

Supporting a Life-Saving Cause

Proceeds from Green Shirt Day shirt sales support Green Shirt Day, the Canadian Transplant Association, and the Logan Boulet Endowment Fund. By wearing green on April 7 and sharing Logan’s story, Canadians continue to spark vital conversations about organ donation.
